is a rare condition. It constitutes only about 2 percent of all hematological cancers each year in the US. The causes of the illness are unknown. However, there have been many theories put forward, including the possibility that the disease is triggered by the hepatitis virus, and the possibility that it might be precipitated by an immune reaction to some foreign protein.
